MiDosis privacy policy

MiDosis stores, only in your device's internal storage, the data you enter: medication names, amounts and units, times and regimens, stock, notes on each dose, photos of medications if you take them, the profiles you create, the family alert contacts if you set them up, and the history of doses taken, skipped or missed. Part of this information is health data.

• The app does not request internet access. You can check this on the Google Play listing, under "App permissions". Without that permission it cannot send anything to any server, ours or anyone else's.
• We do not receive, store or have any way to see your data.
• There are no user accounts, no sign-up, no email and no device identifiers.
• We show no ads, do not use the advertising ID and include no analytics, tracking or crash-reporting SDK.
• We do not sell data or use it for advertising, profiling, insurance, credit or employment decisions.

If you, or someone helping you with your permission, turn it on in Settings, Family alert, and the person using the phone agrees, when a dose is not confirmed within the chosen minutes your phone sends a text message to one or two numbers you provide. The message contains the name you choose for the person and the time of the dose, for example "MiDosis: Carmen has not confirmed the dose at 21:00"; the medication name is only included if you turn that option on.

The text message goes from your phone through your operator's network, without internet, and is charged by your tariff like any other text message. The operator carries it as it does every message; we never receive it or keep a copy. You can turn the alert off at any time. While it is off, nothing is sent.

The app lets you export a backup (JSON), your history (CSV) and a PDF report for your doctor, send today's summary to whoever you want, write to your contacts from the alarm screen and, in follow-up mode, call a relative. In all these cases you choose the destination and the app used to send or save it (your messaging or email app, or the system file picker). Files leave unencrypted because their purpose is for you to open them or take them to your appointment: from that moment, keeping them safe is your responsibility. We never receive a copy.

The database is encrypted at rest (SQLCipher) with a key generated on your device and protected by the Android Keystore. Medication photos are stored encrypted with another key from the same keystore. These keys cannot be exported. The app disables Google's automatic backup, so your history does not reach the cloud either.

After a restart, before you unlock the phone, the app can only read the times of your upcoming doses, without names or amounts, to alert you with a general message.

• Reading the alarm aloud (off by default): the alert text is passed to the voice engine installed on your phone.
• Medication photo: it is taken by your phone's camera app or chosen with the system photo picker; MiDosis has no access to the camera or your gallery.
• Alert contacts: you can choose them with the system picker, which only hands over the contact you pick; MiDosis cannot read your contacts.
• Rating: at most every few months, the app may show Google Play's official rating window. That window is handled by Google Play under its own policy; we receive nothing.

• Notifications: to show dose alerts.
• Exact alarms: so the alert rings at the exact time of the dose.
• Full-screen alert: to show the alarm over the lock screen.
• Start after restart: to reschedule your alerts, also before the first unlock.
• Vibration: to accompany the alert.
• Send SMS: only for the family alert, only if you turn it on, and requested at that moment. The app does not read or receive your text messages.

The app does not access the microphone, location, your contacts, your text messages, shared storage or the list of installed apps.

Since your data never reaches us, you are fully in control: you can view, change or export it from the app, and delete it completely by uninstalling the app or clearing its data in Android settings. The app is not aimed at children under 13 and does not collect data from them.

If a future version changes this approach, we will update this page before publishing it and say so inside the app. This version of the policy corresponds to MiDosis 1.2, which added the family alert by text message.
